Booze Bladder
Posted (admin) in Sports on September-16-2010

Sporting events have become a very pricey field trip for many families. The cost of the ticket is high enough, but then you throw in the cost of food and a souvenir if you want one, and your looking at over $100 spent for an afternoon or evening. This Booze Bladder will at least allow you to save a little money on drinks in the stadium. This thing tucks under your shirt and will keep 24 oz. of your favorite beverage cold, so you don’t have to worry about it getting to warm to drink.

Soccer cufflinks
Posted (admin) in Apparel, Sports on September-15-2010

These are a great item for formal occasions. If your father is a soccer fan, these cufflinks have a small drawing of a soccer field, complete with goal areas. The beautiful green is a unique departure from the stereotypical gold or silver cuff links most men wear.

Team Afghan
Posted (admin) in Sports on September-14-2010

My Dad plays on a community softball league, and the guys on the team decided to get the manager a special gift. They pooled their money and ordered an afghan with the team name, roster and year on it. The manager was really grateful and surprised to receive it.

Gym floor frame
Posted (admin) in Sports on September-13-2010

This is a great idea for recycling old community property. A gym floor was redone, and rather than send the old floor to the landfill, people used it to make picture frames and shelves. I think my Dad would enjoy a small piece of the gym floor he played basketball on.

Classic TV comedy
Posted (admin) in Movies on September-10-2010

My Dad loves the comedy that comes from the 50-70s. All the big names from that time, Dick Van Dyke, Don Rickles, and Bob Newhart are sitting on my Dad’s movie shelf. But the one show he doesn’t have is the Bob Newhart Show. Newhart was and is the best straight man comic ever. His phone conversation routines are brilliant in that the punchline is implied in his act.

Western movies
Posted (admin) in Movies on September-9-2010

Western movies are a nice slice of nostalgia sometimes. They offer a simpler, sometimes more brutal, possibility for living life.  Say what you will about the past, whether it was simple or not, oftentimes the scenery was incredible. I think that’s why Westerns have such a strong hold on our culture.

Saving Private Ryan
Posted (admin) in Movies on September-8-2010

What is it with dads and war movies? What is it with me and war movies? Why do we get so engrossed in these stories? I may not know the answer to that, but I do have a dad who would love to own Saving private Ryan on Blu-Ray. I’m not sure if the visuals need to be clearer, but watching HD movies does enhance the experience.

Martial Arts
Posted (admin) in Movies on September-7-2010

This sounds like a terrific deal for any dad who likes kung-fu movies. 50 movies for 20 bucks? When you do the math, it comes out to like 40 cents a movie. Now, some may argue that the production value on some of these movies reflects that price, but really the whole reason to watch these movies is to marvel at the athleticism and choreography of the fighters and fights.

Blues Brothers
Posted (admin) in Movies on September-6-2010

The Blues Brothers is a perfect movie, cause it’s really multiple movies. It’s a comedy thanks to the antics of John Belushi and Dan Akroyd. It’s a musical because of the musical production numbers. It’s also a time capsule of some of the greatest names in music we’ve been fortunate enough to have with us on this earth.

Fatboy Hammock
Posted (admin) in Outdoors on September-3-2010

If you plan on giving this to your dad as a gift, I wouldn’t mention the name of the product. Hammocks are extremely relaxing ways to enjoy the outdoors, and I think the reason it’s called a fatboy is because of how many people it can accommodate.
